The provincial government is trying to convince growers for using only certified seeds to make the county self-reliant in all the important crops. This was stated by the Additional Secretary Agriculture (Planning) Dr Ghazanfar Ali while addressing a meeting of the representatives of the seed companies at the Agriculture House here on Thursday.

He said that it is the first priority of the government to provide certified quality seeds to the growers as it is utmost necessary to achieve maximum yield of any crop. He said the government is also desirous to provide these certified seeds on subsidized rates.

The meeting discussed provision of seeds, Kissan cards, e-vouchers and many other proposals.

Director General Agriculture (Extension) Dr. Anjum Ali informed the representatives of the seed companies that the government would monitor provision of certified seeds on subsidized rates to ensure transparency. Representatives of different seed companies who were attending the meeting also submitted their proposals.
